A confirmed urbanite, I loved the big city life. When I decided to run away to the tropics, the dynamic Panama City, Panama attracted me like a moth to a flame. So how did I end up living a life out in the country as tranquil as a Zen monastery? An open mind led me astray.
Panama was everything I wanted from a new home. The climate was good, though it could get hot along the coast. I considered moving to the mountains for a cooler climate, but then I discovered something even better. A mere 30-minute drive inland, I found the slight increase in altitude made for a climate that suited me perfectly.
Living in the tropics has been a lifelong desire for me. Growing up in west Georgia, my friend Terry and I had our own Huckleberry Finn fantasy. We were going to float down the Chattahoochee River to the ocean, then make our way along the coast until we found our tropical paradise.
