Can I Buy a Home in Toulon, France for $800,000?

Paul W. Says:

I am looking for a two-bed, two-bath home in the Toulon area with a pool. I am looking to spend between $700,000 and $800,000. Can I do ok with this amount of money?

IL France Correspondent Tuula Rampont Says:

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your question. That sounds like a good budget for the Toulon area. For $700,000 to $800,000, you will be able to get a two-bedroom, two-bathroom home outside of the city center, with a pool.

You can choose to search on your own, via Le Bon Coin or by visiting Seloger. Both are popular real estate websites—the first one preferred by owners who are selling their properties directly, although you will find several agencies advertising there as well.

Here are two properties you might find interesting.

The first is in the Font Près neighborhood and has four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, with a view of Toulon’s well-known Mont Faron (mountain). The home is 1720 square feet and includes an outdoor terrace which leads to the swimming pool. Price: €695,000 ($759,000).

The second listing is a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in a secured community with a pool, jacuzzi, and separate “apartment” on the lower level for receiving guests. It has exposed beams and a fireplace in the living room. At 1808 square feet, the price is €695,000 ($758,800). The house is in the Dardenne neighborhood.

If you’re looking to be closer to the sea, your budget is quite attractive for purchasing an apartment in the Mourillon neighbourhood—which overlooks a beach of the same name. Otherwise, outside of the center of town, or even in a nearby village, you’ll be able to find a home with a sizable plot of land and a swimming pool.

There are more and more English-speaking agents in the area who can help you with your search. Best of luck with your search!
