If you are a permanent resident or have acquired citizenship, gun ownership is possible with a permit. To obtain this permit, you must first undergo a thorough background check; and the waiting period can be as long as six months.
Gun importation is allowed in Belize, but it is restrictive and complex to navigate. Imported guns will be impounded by the police and registered before a license is granted.
With regard to firearms, the maximum caliber allowed in Belize is 9mm. Anything above is prohibited. You can have only 100 rounds at any one time.
You must remember to renew your license yearly as there are strict penalties. Here is detailed information about the various costs.
