As an Ecuador Insider member, you already know many of the reasons Ecuador is such a great retirement destination…low cost of living, affordable real estate, a great climate. But the country's culture and traditions (both old and new), the beautiful scenery, the healthy (and health care friendly) way of life are also more of the reasons we love it here and we'll look at them in detail in this month's news.

I've just returned from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where International Living's 9th annual Ultimate Retire Overseas Event was held. Expats from around the world were on hand to speak about countries from Asia to Europe to Latin America. I had the pleasure of speaking three separate times on the subjects of my family's expat experience in Ecuador, operating a business overseas, and moving abroad with children.

For better or worse, we bring our culture and customs with us when we move overseas. Although, I'd argue that some of them have preceded us and are infiltrating the world in spite of us (thanks to that wicked beast called television).
