Why I Love My Friendly, Peaceful Panamanian Neighborhood
I live in a community called Caimito, between Boquete and David, Panama. We are the only expats in the area, and all of my neighbors go out of their way to help in any way they can.

About a month ago, I packed up my things and left Panama City for a rented house in the countryside…and it was glorious. I wrote to friends about the peace and serenity of “my little Quietville.”
My husband, Gary, and I spend the summer months on beautiful Vancouver Island in B.C. Canada, where we live on an alpaca farm.
Earlier this evening I walked across a plaza to meet a friend. There was an elegantly outfitted brass band playing for a group of dignitaries. The centuries-old Hotel Central—newly restored to its former glory—was the perfect backdrop.
On my recent trip to David, Panama’s third largest city, I heard a common refrain from expats there. Whenever the topic of Boquete, a small mountain town about 30 minutes up the mountain, came up they’d say: “It’s too cold. Too small. And there are too many gringos.”

The secret is out. One more off-the-beaten-track pieces of paradise is emerging in Panama and, in my opinion, it boasts the most breathtaking scenery in all of this beautiful country.
