Dotted along the coastline are superb luxury new resorts and stunning historic towns...the ancient port town of Lagos has more than 2,000 years of history, and was the starting point for Portugal's famous sailors and explorers who would help map the world.

With 300 days of sunshine a year, stunning beaches, and world-class golf, Portugal's Algarve attracts millions of tourists each year. It's in the south of the country facing the Atlantic, although it boasts a Mediterranean climate.
