Soft, White Sand Beaches, Tropical Palms Swaying to a Reggae Beat…and Impossibly Blue Skies Against the Warm Turquoise Sea… This is Belize.

If you love the Caribbean lifestyle but think it’s out of your price range, it’s time to see firsthand just how easy and affordable it can be… Expat couples report they live well here on as little as $1,700-$2,700 a month.

Discover Belize and the Carefree, Convenient,
Affordable Caribbean

Dear Reader,

“This is a barefoot nirvana, where you can hitch a ride on a skiff with a local fisherman for a day, then walk into a restaurant and have them cook your catch for you. You can climb Maya ruins without a guardrail in sight, or swim with whale sharks in Caribbean waters. You can see and touch ancient Maya pottery deep in a cave system, hike through the rain forest, swim in waterfalls, and jump off small cliffs into the sea without signing a waiver.”

Belize is the kind of place you see in dreamy travel magazine photos or music videos…palm trees swaying in time with the gentle ebb of clear warm waters caressing soft white sands. Where there’s no horizon at all because the sky and the water are the same shade of blue.

People are genuinely happy here. They greet you with a smile and a cheerful “Good Day.”

Home to a melting pot of ethnic groups, including Chinese, Creole, East Indian, European, Garifuna, Lebanese, Mayan, Mennonite and Mestizo, Belizeans are kind, welcoming, and tolerant to all.

Life is simpler in Belize, a place that’s comfortable and safe…where there’s a steady supply of fresh food, the climate won’t kill you, and the scenery—and serenity—is delightful.

Just a short 2-hour flight from Miami, you can escape the chaos and fast pace of the rest of the world and ease into living the way life is meant to be: on your terms.

No doubt about it, you’ll love the comfortable, carefree lifestyle and the low cost of living you’ll discover in Belize…less than half what you’d spend in the rest of the Caribbean or the U.S.

When you know its secrets, it can cost you very little to live here… 30% to 50% less than the U.S. or elsewhere in the Caribbean.

Many expat couples here say that depending on where you choose to settle, a couple can live—all in, rent, utilities, food and more—on a budget of just $1,700-$2,700 a month. Spend more and you can live very well, indeed.

The living there is good, they say…better than they ever imagined it could be.

Caribbean Belize Offers Some Big Benefits—Besides the Obvious— That are Hard to Find Anywhere Else

The obvious charm, of course, is the stunning beauty of the Caribbean. Gorgeous colors everywhere…from multiple tints of blue, green, and turquoise shading the horizon and the sea to brilliantly hued flowers and birds, and the stunning sea life…no wonder this area appeals to nature lovers, snorkelers, and divers.

The climate is another plus. If you like warm and sunny, you’ll love it here.

But there’s more to it…especially if you’re looking for the perfect retirement spot or part-time getaway:

  • It's close to home. The international airport in Belize City quickly connects you to the U.S., Canada, and beyond. (Fly from Miami in just two hours.)
  • You needn't learn a new language. English is the official language of Belize.
  • A government is stable and democratic, following parliamentary procedure as you’ll find in the UK. (Belize was a British protectorate until gaining its independence in 1981 so you’ll find many British influences.)
  • Your money goes far. The Belizean currency is pegged 2 to 1 to the U.S. dollar (U.S. dollars are freely accepted everywhere) and the cost of living is low.
  • Real estate is bargain priced. That’s why so many are opting to retire or own vacation homes here.
  • It's easy to establish residence and more… (The QRP or Qualified Retired Person Program is one of the best retirement incentive programs of its kind.) And it’s very easy to work online or even start a business in Belize, where tourism numbers have been constantly increasing, although 2020 will certainly be a bump in the road for tourism everywhere in the world.
  • And it’s small yet uncrowded…a big plus in today’s social distancing norms. With only about 400,000 people living in Belize (about the size of Massachusetts) you’ll find plenty of room to spread out. It’s a place where you can bring your ideas and experience and make a difference.

And of course, you’ll find the qualities and amenities you’d expect in a world-class retirement destination: You’ll find some of the sunniest, most beautiful beaches in the world (according to many international travel magazines); picture-perfect laidback islands (no shoes, no shirt, no problem), rainforests, waterfalls, pine forests, lush river valleys, ancient Maya ruins, and much more…

And as I’ve said, for being this close to paradise, you’ll find a low, low cost of living.

And while you’ll likely be healthier than ever when you live in a place with a year-round temperate climate and plentiful sunshine where you can be actively out and about every day (and did we mention the absolutely fresh, low-cost seafood?)…when you do need healthcare services, you’ll spend a fraction of what you likely would in the U.S.

Many expats, in fact, pay out of pocket. And it’s quick and easy to fly back to the U.S. or Canada to use your Medicare or V.A. benefits.

And when you’re able to travel there in person, you’ll have all the knowledge and contacts necessary to move forward with confidence.

I’m Jackie Flynn, publisher of International Living.

Like every country, Belize has been affected by the global pandemic. It closed its borders quickly and imposed strict measures to contain the virus. Today, with less than a 2% infection rate, little Belize is now welcoming international tourists once again as long as you can obtain a certified negative covid-19 test within 72 hours of departure and follow health guidelines once you are in the country.

Still, I understand you may be reluctant to travel right now. And that’s why we’re bringing this Belize Private Screening to you.

After all, Belize one of the top retirement spots in the world for many good reasons. But until you’re able to travel there with confidence to check it out in person, our Belize Private Screening online event is the next best thing.

In fact, it may be far better than an in-person visit. There are no expensive airfares, hotels, or rental cars to book, no hours of time spent researching, no appointments to make… We’ve done all the heavy lifting for you.

Without leaving the comfort and safety of your home, this is your way to virtually meet the best resources we know in Belize—the experts and expats that can offer you the real-world guidance and insightful advice you need to design your own personalized Belize strategy.

Best of all, you’ll walk away with all the knowledge and contacts necessary to make your move to this popular, convenient, affordable part of the world with confidence. And you’ll have the tools in hand that will help you put your plan into action.

This groundbreaking online event is your perfect first step to seeing if Belize is a good fit for you and start putting your plans in place. I think you’ll like what you discover…

No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem.
Belize is a Laidback Sun- and Sea-Lover’s Paradise

Belize packs a big punch in a small package. Because it’s one of the smallest countries in Central America (just a couple of hours south of Cancun along the Caribbean Sea), it’s easy to explore in a short amount of time. You’ll love its remarkable diversity…from pine forests in the west and rainforests in the south to rolling farmland in the center and 240 miles of gorgeous Caribbean coastline dotted with more than 200 offshore idyllic islands with sparkling white sands and turquoise waters, rimmed by emerald palms and bathed in balmy tropical sunshine….

Living and spending time in Belize is about as easy as it gets.

For instance, Belize makes it incredibly easy to gain residence. There are offers for tremendous tax benefits, too.

At age 45, you can qualify for the Belize government's Qualified Retired Persons (QRP) Program, that gives you residence in Belize. And you can enjoy these benefits even if you spend as little as one month per year there or if you're far from retirement.

Benefits include permanent exemption from Belizean taxes, including income tax, capital gains tax, estate tax and—during the first year after obtaining your visa, you are exempt from import tax on household goods, automobiles, boats and even airplanes….

Property prices are agreeably low, too—especially the farther you get from touristy areas…

During the Belize Private Screening, we’ll introduce you to Belize’s best communities….the most popular for expats include the country’s largest island, Ambergris Caye, and its smaller neighbor nearby, Caye Caulker. This area is the scuba diving and watersports capital of Belize. Expats and locals that live here, though, say that despite its popularity, life is intoxicatingly tranquil, and more affordable than you might expect.

Farther south, the Placencia Peninsula is a 17-mile spit of land that parallels the mainland and has lots of appeal. This may be Belize’s fastest-growing area. And it’s easy to see why. With the vast open sea to the east of the peninsula and the tranquil lagoon to the west, affordable waterfront property and vistas are available on both sides.

Corozal is another well-established seaside community, and real estate prices here are much less than what you will find in other areas of Belize. And it rains less, too. Plus, it’s just across the border (an easy crossing) from Chetumal, Mexico, where you’ll find great shopping and excellent healthcare.

Inland, the Cayo District—known as Belize’s “breadbasket”—is appealing for its wide-open spaces, fertile farmland, and freshwater rivers for canoeing and tubing.

We’ll have experts and expats from all these communities on hand during the Private Screening, and we’ll cover other appealing areas, too, such as coastal Hopkins/Dangriga, and the growing-in-popularity seaside town of Punta Gorda.

No Matter Where You Settle, You’ll Find a Low Cost of Living and the Lifestyle of Your Dreams

The Good News: You’ll be amazed at how far your budget can stretch in Belize, all the while upgrading your lifestyle. Take a look at this :

Housing (2-bed rental) $600
Utilities (electricity, gas, water, garbage) $215
Landline phone/internet $50
Cellphone $50
Cable TV $50
Gas and maintenance for car $135
Food and dining out $400-$600
Entertainment $100
Misc. (gym, medical, housekeeper, etc.) $200

TOTAL:

$1,800-$2,000

This is an average monthly budget for a retired couple living in Belize’s seaside Corozal district.

Of course, costs will vary according to your personal circumstances and where you choose to live. You can expect to spend about $1,000 more each month if you choose to live on the tourist-popular island of Ambergris Caye and maybe $500 more per month to live in seaside Placencia. You could spend, on average, about $500 less if you choose to live in the Cayo district or in the southern oceanfront town of Punta Gorda.

And you might reduce your costs even more. For example, if you pay outright for your home you won't have housing costs beyond some maintenance and upkeep. You may not need cable TV. You may or may not want a car. You may go out more often…or go out less…

But the point is: Belize is an exciting, fun, stunningly gorgeous place to live…and the cost of it all can be quite low indeed.

What About Real Estate Prices?

Fortunately, the costs of real estate in little Belize haven’t quite caught up with the rest of the world…especially considering its jaw-dropping scenery and overall appeal. All examples here are in US dollar prices.

  • A cute three-bedroom home near the sea and just outside Corozal town, with local mahogany cabinetry, a brand new kitchen, and a shady porch for relaxing, overlooking the lush garden, is selling for just $79,900.
  • On Ambergris Caye (arguably Belize’s top tourist destination) where you’d expect higher prices, you can find condo prices starting at just $95,000. A gorgeous new one-bedroom Oceanview condo is selling for $149,000. Or go upscale with a 2,000-sq.-ft 3-bedroom waterfront home—with a boat slip and luxuriously furnished down to the best quality linens—selling for just $379,000. Try finding that elsewhere in the Caribbean.
  • In trendy Placencia, a three-bedroom home right on the water has been newly remodeled, with gorgeous Mahogany accents and floors, and a perfectly-situated boat dock right out the front door. This house comes fully furnished and seller financing is available. Price? An amazingly low $299,000.
  • In the Cayo district, too, there are bargains to be had, such as a cozy 3-bedroom raised bungalow with wood floors, a wood vaulted ceiling, and a shady veranda all the way around the house. On 6-mile Vaca Lake in the foothills of the Maya Mountains, if you love kayaking, canoeing, hiking, bird watching and adventure, this property is for you. And so is the price at just $99,000.

When we meet online for the Belize Private Screening this December, we’ll show you where to find bargains like these and many more.

Here’s what’s in store for you when you join us for this
Belize Private Screening

These are just some of the topics that will be covered:

  • The best expat communities for easy and affordable expat living, where you can quickly settle in and start enjoying life right away.
  • Your best resident visa options. There are several to choose from, including that much-touted QRP Program, but which is best for you? How many years do you plan to live in Belize? Do you want to work? Or import your car? We’ll discuss the options in detail to help ensure you choose the visa that’s right for you.
  • Your healthcare options: how to qualify and what the costs are. (You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the low cost of medical and dental care in Belize.)
  • All the details of how to safely purchase real estate. Belize follows UK Common Law which makes transactions safe and transparent. But legal processes, fees and so on are a bit different than you may be used to, so having the right guide to those is invaluable.

A well-respected Belizean attorney will be on hand to introduce you to your best options when it comes to immigration, property purchases, and more. If you had to pay for this time individually, well…even in this affordable part of the world, you’d rack up a big bill.

And you can be sure we’re building in plenty of live interactive Q and A time so you can ask questions and get an even better sense for how to best proceed with visas and other legal issues given your personal situation…

  • We’ll also provide guidance about shipping your household goods, your car, your boat, and more… Should you? What documents do you need, where do you get them and what do you do with them?

This is the kind of in-depth information you can expect from this groundbreaking Private Screening. We’ll clarify the import rules, explain how much cars cost should you decide to buy one in Belize, whether or not you’ll need a local driver’s license and how to get one…and much more.

  • We’ll explain how to structure your finances…where to bank, how to pay your bills…
  • How to get mail delivered…
  • We’ll discuss your communication needs, and the kind of phone and internet service you might expect…
  • What kind of documentation do you need to bring your pets? You can be sure we’ll cover this important topic…
  • And we’ll offer the inside line on what to expect in the way of taxes, both at home and in Belize (not much at all, thankfully) and much, much more.

Importantly, you’ll discover how to save money.

It’s not just about shopping in the local farmer’s markets or eating the delicious local food. It has more to do with picking the right place to settle…choosing the right kind of home to live in, and so on…

During the Belize Private Screening, you’ll get all of the best tips and insights from dozens of experts with decades of experience in Belize.

Here are just a few of the experts who’ll be on hand for Belize Private Screening. Remember: they're not just presenting their topics. They’ll be available to answer your questions during the interactive Q&A sessions, plus you’ll get all their contact details. They’ve all graciously agreed to be accessible to you long after the Private Screening has ended.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, it's possible the speakers may change. Other experts, however, will take their place covering the same topics.

You’ll meet many other professionals…medical care specialists, insurance providers, real estate professionals, business experts, expat tax experts from both the U.S. and Canada, and more who will address your more specific “nuts and bolts” issues of relocating to Belize.

Note: As part of your Belize Private Screening, you’ll get all the speaker contact information…email addresses, phone numbers, websites…so you can follow up with any one of them now or as long as it takes to make your move to Belize.

There will also be plenty of expats on hand, including doctor/writer Kacie Crisp from the Cayo district who will share insightful stories and experiences with you. Theses expats left the U.S. or Canada for a variety of reasons…but for sure to escape high costs of living and frigid winter temperatures. They’ll share their experiences as well as the unvarnished truth about life in Belize…the good, bad, and the not-so-good.

You can be sure you'll get first-hand on topics such as:

  • Shipping your household goods
  • Banking
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Cultural acclimation
  • The legal ins and out of buying real estate in Belize
  • The best visa option for your needs
  • How to safely move your pets to and keep them healthy in Belize
  • Home, auto, life, and health insurance
  • And much, much more… including all the country’s best destinations depending on your lifestyle needs

Our seasoned professional experts will deliver the on-target information you need to get the real picture about living, buying, or starting up a business in Belize. We’ll even have special  presentations on moving overseas as a single person and one with tips on how to enjoy life as a part-time expat.

Believe me, this firsthand information is worth its weight in gold.

We've got a full schedule planned for you. No stone will be left unturned.

As you might imagine, we’re making final preparations as I write this. Our goal is to make 100% sure you get everything you need (and more) from this historic online event—just as if you were joining us in person in gorgeous Caribbean Belize, but at a tiny fraction of the expenses you’d incur to do that.

Here’s how it will work:

Your Belize Private Screening will take place over two days, Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13. It will begin at a manageable time, likely 11 AM Eastern Time/8 AM Pacific Time. (Once this is fully confirmed, you’ll get details in your online registration packet.)

Online presentations and live discussions will take place over approximately five hours each day, with brief built-in breaks scheduled for your convenience.

And don’t worry if you can’t be there to see every speaker’s presentation. We’ll archive every bit of this Private Screening so you can go back and review at your leisure.

In fact, you’ll have lifetime access to your Belize Private Screening, so you can review any time you like long into the future.

Just to repeat:

  • When you participate in the Belize Private Screening, you’ll be able to watch the presentations and participate in Question and Answer sessions real time live as they happen.
  • Plus, we'll archive the footage at the end of each day, so you can log on at any time and review any presentation you missed—so don’t worry if you can’t be available for every session.

While we’d love you to be able to host you in person in Belize, we feel it’s essential that you see and hear what our experts say and be virtually “in the room” with them. You’ll be privy to every question asked and answered to learn firsthand about the solutions available to you.

You'll get everything you need to move confidently forward with your Belize plans, and you won’t have to leave home to do that.

This First-Ever Belize Private Screening Online Event is a One-of-a-Kind Opportunity. The Depth, Breadth, and Insights Just Can’t Be Found Anywhere Else…

We’ll cover all sides of Belize. From luxury living to a comfortable and enjoyable way of life that you can manage on a social security check…from the sundrenched tropical islands and the dazzling beaches to the rolling farmland of the Cayo district south to Placencia and Punta Gorda and north to Corozal and everything in between.

This Belize Private Screening will bring you up to speed on affordable lifestyles that you didn't know about before.

Think about it. If you gather this information on your own, you'll spend thousands of dollars, and months of your time. Knock on doors, search the internet, sit in lawyers' offices, and hang out with real estate agents, it will be impossible to assemble the body of knowledge that we've pulled together for this online event.

And you don’t need to leave the safety and comfort of home. No airfares, hotels or restaurant meals required.

And this is not just a “we talk, you listen” event. To the contrary. We’re building in plenty of interactive group discussion/ask questions sessions. You’ll be able to submit your comments or ask questions and get them answered on the spot.

Frankly, this Belize Private Screening is a good investment of time and money for anyone who's considering making a life there…well worth every penny you'll pay to attend.

"Very well done! A good variety of necessary information on everything one needs to know to make an informed touring or moving decision. Different presenters, slides & topics kept it engaging."

– Rebecca R.

“I had reservations, however, the information on healthcare, Social Security, and the visa process was invaluable. I did not expect the speakers to go in-depth on the real estate areas, so that was a plus. I'm ready to move!”

– Vicki

“As a presenter, video producer, and event organizer myself, I know well what it takes to pull together a conference such as this. Very well done! Super useful! So encouraged about my impending move. Thank you!! Bravo/brava

“Everything was very informative and a great base of knowledge. From the residency, to the different areas, to medical, to real estate, etc. Great way to collect all the information during one weekend and in one spot. Superb. Would recommend this to anyone – especially as being first timers to this.”

“I thought overall that the 2-day video conference was excellent. I was impressed at how informative and how smoothly all the presentations went on the online format. I intend on reviewing the archived videos again in the future when I get closer to my move.

– Tim

I was concerned about spending consecutive hours in front of a screen, however, the overall and each session was well organized and ran smoothly. The information was concise, and the personality of the presenters came through. I left with the feeling I knew these people well enough to contact in the future. Very well done!

Well worth the investment of both time and money. The bonus material was an unexpected plus and really heaped value onto the entire experience. Frankly I liked viewing this from the comfort of my home. Doubt very much I'd travel to an area to receive the same information. Saves everyone money. Well, OK not the airlines and hotel companies!

– Steven S.

I thought it was a wonderful experience and so many questions were answered. I am very happy that I signed up and I would definitely recommend it. Thank you so much!
