I would like to add a little more to my post of last week about Quito’s airport. Once again, the old airport in north central Quito is most likely NOT where you arrived. I was instructed in another method of getting to the new (the real) airport. You could use this route if you’re not on the itenarary from Hell as I was, and are going to the airport at a reasonable time of the day. Apparently, one vestige of service left at the old airport is a bus that will take you from there to the new airport northeast of Quito for $8.00 or $8.50. It’ll be A LOT cheaper than a taxi.
