    Suzan,

I am a CPA with 30+ years in the tax business contemplating a move to Ecuador.  In your experience, how do expats in Ecuador handle their US filing obligations?  Thanks to Internet I can do business worldwide.  My answer to generating an income while sitting on the beach.  Thanks for your response

Asking a general question about how expats do anything is a slippery slope, John. And paying taxes is not on anyone’s “Top 10 conversation topics” list that I know. We have maintained our relationship with our CPA in the States and handle everything online. I do have a CPA friend here in Cuenca who is continuing to remotely assist clients back home on the Internet. I don’t know whether he is also helping local gringos.

We also work with a CPA firm in the States. If you’re asking if you could offer this service to fellow expats, I ‘d say yes. But you gotta know the expat laws as pertain to personal situations inside and out…

    Suzan,

I am heavily involved in the expat tax world and am increasing the emphasis and knowledge so that I can help people plan to avoid as much of the burden as possible.   Thanks to Internet I now have clients all over the world which is truly amazing for someone that started 30 years ago.

Perfect, you will find plenty of clients. You might want to run a classified ad on the internationalliving.com website. Contact Emma Haran <eharan@internationalliving.com> for details.
