Hey everyone,
I usually recommend using a review site like Trip Advisor to choose the best hotel for you…one because the hotel scene is changing very quickly. We have had a great many new hotels spring up here in recent years and a review site can help you search by criteria important to you. However I am on a lot of random mailing lists and when I do hear about a new hotel or promo I will post here for your potential benefit. Here are two such deals I read about today (remember, contact hotels directly for booking, etc)
Special “Canal Centennial” hotel deal:

“Deal: Celebrate the canalThe Waldorf Astoria Panama is offering a Panama Canal Package to commemorate the canal’s 100th anniversary. Starting at $380 for two travelers (plus 10 percent tax), the deal includes accommodations at the upscale Panama City hotel, breakfast buffet, Wi-Fi (normally $15) and a five-hour Panama Canal transit tour (normally about $135 each), with transportation to and from the Miraflores Visitor Center. In addition, dine at one of the on-site restaurants and receive a free Bishop cocktail. Two-night minimum required. Book and stay by Dec. 31. Info: 800-WALDORF, http://www.waldorfastoriapanama.com.

I just found out the fancy new Hilton in Panama City is officially open and offering a low promotional rate…I went to see it when it was about 99% complete and the hotel is really beautiful, plus the location couldn’t be more central. Not sure what the food and customer service will be like, first months are usually a time to work out little glitches, but the people I met during my tour of the facility seemed very well-trained so that’s encouraging! Here’s a link to the article that mentions the special rate (below).
Have a great night everyone!
