Does anyone know the status of online poker in Ecuador? Is it possible to open accounts on Full Tilt, Poker Stars and Party Poker? Playing online was a major part of my plans for funding my retirement, but this is now impossible in the “free” United States.
May 28, 2013 at 8:38 am #519161RAYMOND SCHWARTENParticipantI am also interested in this.
I know they closed all of the casino’s in Ecuador.
I have seen several players on the America’s Card Room from Ecuador.May 28, 2013 at 1:12 pm #519276I don’t know the answer to this one, but I will see what I can find out.
May 28, 2013 at 2:05 pm #519280Hola again, I am not in Ecuador right now, so I checked with a friend who is there to see if she could access these (I think) sites. And she just wrote me to say: “Looks like all they do is download the app and open an account. If they aleady have one I think they should be okay. Looks like the app is out of Manchester so it is not based in the US.”
Does this help?
May 28, 2013 at 2:22 pm #519281One more comment: The main problem with playing online poker anywhere is that US Banks refuse to deposit money into “gambling” sites – so you will need to have a non-US bank account and a non-US IP address to make a deposit to any Real Money online sites like PokerStars
And P.S.: The hide IP website Edd uses is http://www.spotflux.com.

Can it be done without a resident visa?May 29, 2013 at 7:26 pm #519461It is easy enough to open a bank account but I think you’d have to have a credit history to get a credit card. I bank with Jyske Bank in Denmark and they issue credit cards. Not sure if they come from a US bank, but you might take a look at jgam.com
May 30, 2013 at 6:52 am #519529EI EXPERT – EDD STATONParticipantSusan is correct. Bank account–easy. Credit card–impossible without credit history here just like anywhere else. I’m not aware that the concept of a “secured” credit card (backed by your own funds) is viable in Ecuador.

Usual or unusual?
How about prepaid credit cards?
ie : Green Dot, etc issued from Ecuador?
Are there any international banks not tied to the US?June 3, 2013 at 1:57 pm #519770Ecuador doesn’t have any international banks that I know of. In all honesty, I don’t have a bank account in Ecuador. I don’t see the need for one… I just use my ATM card to withdraw money from my US (Capital One) account.
