I am in a quandary about how to get my proof of income apostilled. Social Security does not and will not notarized their letters. The local Social Security office will not let me bring a notary in to notarize their letter. They say they are not allowed to do that. A notary, of course, will/can not notarize a document they did not witness being signed. The Florida Secretary of State will not and cannot apostille an un-notarized letter. An apostille is verification that the notary’s signature is valid. One Ecuadorian lawyer told me all documents must be apostilled. Another told me that the proof of income letter must be notarized, then certified by the nearest Ecuadorian consulate office, and then apostilled by the Secretary of State of my state. I cannot be the first Floridian to seek a pensioner’s residency visa. How was this dilemma solved by my predecessors? HELP!!!!!
