As a retired U.S. Naval Officer, I can download my monthly retirement income statement from the Defense Finance and Retirement System (DFAS) via myPay on the internet. Must I get a notarized copy of this from DFAS prior to submitting to State Dept. for apostille and then to Ecuadorian Consulate (in U.S.) for authentication? Lots of rubber stamps and mailings involved! Thanks for any advice. Mike
Notarized no, however, none of the downloadable content is considered “legal documents”, at least for now. It is the same as Social Security letters etc. you must have an original mailed to you, and then that can be submitted to any Secretary of State in any state for apostile.
