Hello everyone! This is my first post to the forum. We have been to Ecuador (3 weeks and saw a lot of the country) and love it and are coming back this summer for a short trip to Cuenca. We would arrive in the Quito airport and our flight leaves the following morning to Cuenca. We were wondering if anyone had an experience in staying overnight in the airport for their next morning flight or had any hotels near to the airport to recommend (and if it is worth it – we would basically get 4-5 hours of rest at the hotel if we left – arrive at 10 or 11 pm in Quito and leave at 7:00am for Cuenca) and we are not sure if we actually get our luggage back during that over night layover or if it remains checked. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

The rooms are fairly basic, but comfortable and it’s only ten minutes from the airport. It might be a good option for getting a few Z’s before heading out again in the morning. The hotel can also arrange for a taxi to meet you at the airport.
Personally, I would get little if any sleep if I were to stay overnight in the airport. It’s really up to you to decide if you can do without sleep for the night or if you’d prefer to save a little money and skip the hotel room.

It’s no picnic, brother–you’re either doing the “head bob” in a chair or laying on a hard floor. But it was a few hours in a lifetime so what the heck, we survived.

I stayed at the Quito Airport Suites in late March, for $49, single. My 15:00 arrival there, gave me time to wander around the town of Tababela, where it is located. It’s clean, cute, pleasant, and the people that I met were friendly. I prearranged for their airport pick-up for $8 and only $5 to drop you off in the morning. They were punctual on both. It is a nice clean, quiet Hostal. My room only had a shower, which was fine for me. I had a small dinner there for $5.00. Their wake up call (knock on door) was also on time. I think you need to be at the airport for 06:00 for a domestic flight, which means leaving the Hostal around 06:45.

But the road is narrow and windy and it took nearly 50 minutes due to SLOW dump trucks, buses and commercial big rigs crawling along at 5 to 10 mph. Same thing following morning at 5AM. Nice hotel (taxi was free!) but plan your time for slow traffic. Bartley

We were hoping to get Quito Airport Suites since it was so close by, but we have another hotel that is close by as well, but I am drawing a blank on the name. We are going to keep checking on QAS to see if a room opens up, but they were full for our day. 🙁
Thanks!

I’ve never stayed at their original place but we stayed at the new one a few days ago and it was really nice and comfortable. The other nearby option you mention is probably Posada Mirolindo: http://www.posadamirolindo.com/

They do have a Diners Club lounge in the Quito Airport (assume it is open 24 hours, but you would have to check on that). Our flight was delayed, so we paid $28 each to stay in the lounge. It also has some reclined couches in a separate room with timers on them…so you can take a nap. Otherwise, there is free beer, coffee, some food, and comfortable chairs to sit in while waiting.
