Spain & Portugal: Rental Properties

I’m new to IL. My husband and I are very interested in exploring Spain and Portugal with the intent of relocating there. I see lots of information of purchasing homes on IL, but not renting. Prior to making a purchanse we want to be sure of the community. Can you please share some links to rental sites for Northern Portugal and Northern Spain, including la Costa Brava? Gracias/Obrigada

I’m getting ready to take my first scouting tour to Spain. This is the biggest unknown and potentially the biggest expense I’m dealing with. From what I’ve heard, it’s almost impossible to rent anything using Idealista unless you’re actually in Spain, and then it can be difficult because they want to rent to Spaniards and to people who are making an active income. Mine is almost all passive (retirement) at this point. So, I’ve turned to AirBnB, Booking.com and other sources, but, of course, they’re ridiculously expensive. If anyone has ideas about how to get short term rentals (2-4 week) at reasonable prices, I’d love to know about it!! Thanks!

Your upcoming scouting trip sounds exciting! For short term rentals it’s true that sites like Airbnb are quite expensive and generally above market rates. But in general short-term rentals in popular cities in Spain can be quite expensive in general.
