ParticipantI am looking for assistance applying for legacy Spanish citizenship. I’ve tried contacting some Spanish law firms that advertise online that they offer this service, but with no response. Can anyone recommend a firm that they have used fir this service?

ParticipantHi Cepee,
We are planning a trip to Spain. Our hope is to get a visa or passport. My husband has grandmother and perhaps her brother (Paulino Uzcudun) who was a famous Spainish Basque boxer. everyone is gone to get any information. Is there someone to contact to find out about them in Spain before we come over?
Many thanks,
Don and CharNovember 10, 2025 at 5:05 pm #736515Cepee Tabibian
ParticipantHi Char,
Lovely that you’re planning to come to Spain! Will you be visiting hte Basque region? Love that your husband has a connection. In order to qualify for citizenship through ancestry, your husband would need to have a parent who was born in Spain. Unfortunately, the path through grandparents expired in October of this year. Here’s a bit more information about that: https://movingtospain.com/spanish-citizenship/
There are many visa pathways to Europe – let me know if you are looking to connect with an immigration lawyer for more info.
In regards to a genealogist for Spain, I don’t have a recommendation. But I suggest asking in some of the Facebook groups for Spain – that may be a great place to start.
If you have any other questions just let me know!

ParticipantMy life partner Bill and I are planning to go to Spain March 2026 to check places we would like to move to. We both are retired and have enough income to qualify for the Non Lucrative Visa.
We are planning to sell our house and belongings so we can be free to travel.
Could you please tell me what would be the process with your company and how much does your company charges for helping with the process.
Thank you.

ParticipantHi Cepee,
I am a US citizen and married to a Spanish citizen. Do I automatically have the Spanish citizenship? Thaks so much, Don VarneyJanuary 6, 2026 at 12:35 pm #739451Cepee Tabibian
ParticipantHi Don,
Great question. If you are married to a Spanish citizen you do not automatically get Spanish citizenship but you are eligible to apply for it.
Please find more information on the requirements and proecss here: https://movingtospain.com/spanish-citizenship-by-marriage/
