You were correct about their schedule. Weekends only and I couldn’t quite make out the sign but it looked like reservations of some sort are required. I will have to check it out next time!

Lo siento I have 1 more question. In one of your daily postcard posts you mention a hot tub, Turkish bath, and sauna. Could you tell me where that is?
    Again, muchas gracias!

Hi Wendy thanks for the info. I checked the facebook page and made a member request. I didn’t make enough preparations for my visit to Cotacachi I’m afraid. I don’t know where anything is lol. I am a few blocks from the main square so I think I will just take a stroll around and see the town. Perhaps I will run across some expats and get some directions from them. I you could pass on my email address to anyone I would appreciate it. alan.bellairs@yahoo.com Hostel has wifi so I can respond to any messages.
    Thanks again!

Thanks Wendy I will give that some thought. Does the bus from Otavalo go to a main bus station in Quito where I could find a taxi to the hotel? Also how often does the bus go from Otavalo to Quito? I am kind of on a tight budget and maybe I should just be adventurous and try the bus!

Right now I am leaning toward a small town since I have never lived in a city. But I want to visit Cuenca before I decide, just to make sure.

Thanks Edd! I plan to spend a few days in Cotacachi and Ibarra before the conference and will kind of see for myself. My next trip will be to Cuenca to see how I like things there. I plan to retire in about 3 years and by then I want to have my plans all set. Of course after I am there awhile, maybe I will change plans. Who know? My daughter spent 5 years in Japan teaching English and she doesn’t think I am adventurous enough to do this. We will find out!

Sorry for the confusion. I just assumed I would have to go back to the airport to catch a bus to Otavalo. I get in to Quito around midnight, and want to take a bus to Otavalo/Cotacachi the next morning. Then I will come back to Quito in time for the conference.
    Thanks again!

One quick additional question to Wendy. How often does the bus run to Otavalo and Cotacachi? I am trying to coordinate a flight to Cuenca and back before the conference also. Oops thought of another question. Do you need to take a taxi to the bus station from the Quito Airport Suites, or does a bus perhaps stop at the airport on the way to Otavalo? Thanks!

That is really interesting. I am also a pharmacist. I am more interested in retiring and doing volunteer work in a medically related setting
