FRANK AGIATOMemberSusan Haskins- I found info on this at http://ecuadorrealestate.org/how-to-import-a-car-to-ecuador
I tried sending a synopsis of the article here but got an error asking me “Are you sure you wanted to do that?” I don’t see a problem with what I sent. Please check it out and advise, if you can. What was the error for? Incidently, there was a large list of different Ecuador articles offering info on manyy topics at this site.FRANK AGIATOMemberSusan, here is some of that info on Hughes. It appears that there is no shortage of Hughes Network Co. affiliates that are offering both internet and TV service in rural areas of Ecuador as well as in cities.

FRANK AGIATOMemberSusan, Thanks, I was trying to determine if the health care worked the same as in the U.S. where Medicare pays 80% and a supplemental policy is purchased to cover the balance. At least that’s the way it used to work pre-Obamacare.
FRANK AGIATOMemberSusan, once again thank you for your quick response! Sorry my mistake, I was talking about the paid insurance for senior citizens. I know there is a monthly cost for that. What I wanted to know is if a supplemental or secondary insurance is necessary in addition to the Pensionados Insurance? Would Anos Dorados Insurance be used as a secondary insurance in that case?
FRANK AGIATOMemberSusan, thanks for the quick response! Early this morning while at Topix.com Forum I found a post 7/2010 American Gringos: Retiring in Ecuador (post# 11, 1/10/11). It spoke about this very subject and the author gave alot of info on the subject and that you should bring your vehicle to Ecuador and that it should be a new one. I sent a response to this because I had read the opposite in IL posts. I also asked a slew of questions related to this subject. Hope I get a response. Thanks again!
FRANK AGIATOMemberGreg, Kudos, it seems like you covered all the likely suspects as Susan suggested. Was attention paid to the time of the year you did all that exploration? Wouldn’t that have played a large part in the temperatures you’re looking for? Good luck in your search.
FRANK AGIATOMemberSusan, on the wages paid for services such as housekeeper, gardner, mechanic, etc. is 10-15/day pay the same across the board? What about tipping? Is there a standard rate of tipping for all of the above?
FRANK AGIATOMemberIf the passport is the only thing required for a month would that month be reduced from the allowable 90 days? Also, when would a visa be required & would that be along with the passport? Thanks!
November 4, 2013 at 4:06 am in reply to: Things you brought that were easily/cheaply replaced #540237FRANK AGIATOMemberSusan, by the answer you gave about the quality sheets you bought I’m not quite sure what the difference is in the Ecuadorian mattress. Is the queen larger in width or depth?
FRANK AGIATOMemberRegarding those real estate price listings in Cuenca, you said the article was out-dated. What does that mean? Are they higher now for the gated communities?
FRANK AGIATOMemberIs there any possibility of getting satelite internet service? There is at least one satelite internet company in the U.S. that specifically caters to poor reception areas.
FRANK AGIATOMemberCan someone please confirm that the question about Anos Dorados is regarding supplemental health for senior citizens? If so, is it a necessity to have this coverage in addition to the free insurance for seniors? Thanks!
