Two months ago I missed my connecting flight from Quito to Cuenca (last flight) and the helpful Information senorita at UIO airport got me a room at the nearby Hotel Marshyl in El Quinche, “a 20-minute drive (13 miles away)”. But the road is narrow and windy and it took nearly 50 minutes due to SLOW dump trucks, buses and commercial big rigs crawling along at 5 to 10 mph. Same thing following morning at 5AM. Nice hotel (taxi was free!) but plan your time for slow traffic. Bartley
