I’m not sure if anyone has gotten back to you but have you looked at Lake Chapala? It’s around 5,000 ft but has a very comfortable climate due it’s being nestled next to a lake surrounded by mountains. They say this microclimate is the best in Mexico. I know a good property manager in Playa del Carmen, his name is Lami and you can reach him on WhatsApp day or night – +52 55 8553 4393. My friend had a condo in Playa and he was her property manager and said he did a great job.
As for shopping, the road between Tulum and Coba is full of artisans that specialise in furnature and things for your home. Plus, if it’s not there they will make you anything you want.
