Do you know of an easy way of finding out if a vet is certified by the USDA so as to minimize any issues with completeness and accuracy of medications, vaccinations and forms?

DOUG HENDRICKSONParticipantWe currently live in New Mexico, but are considering a move to Costa Rica. I recently retired. We had visited both Panama and Costa Rica and found the people in Costa Rica much more friendly and the climate more to our liking (exploring the Central Valley of Atenas, Grecia and San Ramon). Our major stumbling block is selling the house here. The market is not good yet and we’ve got a very large parcel of property with a house and barn (the mortgage is our largest expense and we hope to eliminate that with the move to CR). Hopefully the right person will come along.
DOUG HENDRICKSONParticipantThis web site looks like it has a decent forecast (and you can click for a history) for Boquete. This is what we are using to see the conditions for our trip next week. I’m not sure if Alto Boquete is recorded, as I think there may not be too many sites sending in the information.

DOUG HENDRICKSONParticipantI’d also be interested in birds, as we have an African Grey. And what about horses? Most of what I have read makes me think that for other than cat/dogs, the process gets very complicated.
DOUG HENDRICKSONParticipantI agree with your last point. However, I was surprised to hear that the senior lawyers spoke English and not the juniors. Whenever I travelled overseas on business, it seemed that the younger generation knew English better than their elders. Or perhaps they were being sly?
DOUG HENDRICKSONParticipantYes, I am planning a trip to Panama and I’ve got about the same itinerary you outlined. We’re thinking about eventually ‘retiring’ there and want to get to see the areas of Cerro Azul, Coronado, Sora/Altos del Maria, El Valle, Boquete, and Volcan. We’ve lined up some real estate agents, based on IL recommendations, at each location. I think it’s going to be a tough decision, based on what I’m hearing about each of the areas (pros and cons).
