Hi Suzan, I will be in Quito in December, is there a hotel actually in the airport, that would not require a shuttle. I speak no Spanish and may have problems getting around. Or what do you suggest?

Thanks Suzan and thanks Ed, that is exactly the kind of information that I wanted.
I can see that Cuenca has a higher cost of living, but a better selection, and more to do. I am a single retired person, the entertainment part I like, but the size of the city is of concern. I do not speak Spanish yet (learning) and getting around could be a problem.

Great Question!! I cannot help, but I think many people are here for the same thing. I too am planning a visit and would like to meet expats from the US and Canada. I wonder if there are enough people going there to look around for retirement destinations, could some sort of tour be arranged? Maybe IL could get involved.
