MemberHi Jessica,
Many thanks for your kind and prompt reply. The school is indeed in the Brisas del Golf area and we have not been impressed by the brand new cookie cutter communities we have seen around it. What is your opinion of Ancon Hill? We have been charmed by its established natural environment and views. Are there any other neighbourhoods with such beautiful natural environment you could advice?
We will indeed look into San Francisco/Coco del Mar areas and thank you for providing this advice.kind regards,
Yves and Julie

MemberHi David,
Just go on http://www.weatherbase.com which provides weather information on > 40,000 cities. There is good information on David and Boquete including average, min, max temperatures but also days of precipitation, thunderstorms, amount of precipitationetc etc… I find it very useful.
Alternatively, they also have an app also called “weatherbase” that I use on my iphone which can give you monthly weather statistics from all over the world based on around 22,000 weather stations statistics.Hope this helps.

MemberI have been making this trip and I also confirm that the roads are in very good shape.
One point on GPS in Panama: the Garmin GPS & map I used was ok outside Panama City. In this city, it was way below US standards: for example it was not able to locate the International School of Panama’s location. Seems it was last updated years ago.
Most people here prefer Waze which can be downloaded on an iphone.
Hope this helps.

MemberHi Ian,
On my recent trip to Panama driving over 2500 km in the process, I have noticed a lot of Toyota SUV’s with a good mix of CRV’s, Fortuners and Land Cruiser Prados. Seems that just like in South Africa where I have lived a few years, Toyota 4*4’s seems quite popular in Panama.
During this trip I test drove a Toyota Fortuner and found it solid and reliable, particularly under massive nigh thunderstorm conditions in the sierra between Admirante and David. Not something I would advise to do… We took it on beaches, went through small streams and it just went on. The only main drawback was the Hilux bakkie suspensions which are rather hard on the back and bum. There the Prado is far better but it also comes at a higher price tag…
Hope this helps.Keep well,
Yves
