What’s the Best Place to Buy in Montenegro?

Thomas M. Says:

Where is the best climate and location for a retiree to buy in Montenegro not far from the coast?

IL Roving Correspondent Julie Knox Says:

Hi Thomas,

My husband Warren and I own a home in Montenegro. We love to spend time there and know the area well.

If you’re looking to buy in a location with a great climate and easy access to the coast, there is one town in particular I would recommend.

The beautiful coastal town of Herceg Novi offers a lot, from the perfect Mediterranean climate to its picturesque medieval Old Town. The city has a lively promenade called the Setaliste Pet Danica, filled with local boutique shops, traditional cuisine, and artificial beaches. At the end of the long boardwalk is a mud beach known for its healing properties.

A local fruit and vegetable market is held every Sunday in the Old Town.

You won’t need a car for transport in Herceg Novi, as a bus runs several times every day and taxis are very inexpensive.

Herceg Novi’s strategic location is perfect for travel, as it’s only about 19 miles from the Dubrovnik airport and directly across from the Lustica Peninsula, with its stunning beaches and untouched nature. There’s also a ferry that will take you to Tivat, which has a fantastic marina and long promenade.
