R.M. C. Says:
What is the best way to invest in bitcoin?
Personal Finance Expert Jeff Opdyke Says:
Thanks for the question. This is a great time to be getting into bitcoin! We’re currently in the early stages of a third bull market for crypto, as you’ll know if you’re a regular reader of my Global Intelligence Letter (I go into exactly why this is in the March issue).
In terms of how to invest in bitcoin, it depends on how you want to approach it.
If you want the easy approach, then you can buy one of the new bitcoin Exchange Traded Funds that launched this year. These are financial products that let you gain exposure to the price movement of bitcoin without owning any crypto directly.
You can buy those through any brokerage account.
If you want to own bitcoin directly, then the easiest option there is to buy bitcoin through a PayPal account. You can buy both bitcoin and Ethereum through PayPal’s crypto site, and the company focuses on making the process as simple as possible.
But if you want greater investment options beyond bitcoin and Ethereum, then I would suggest opening an account at Coinbase. This is one of the largest and most respected players in crypto—basically the crypto version of Fidelity or Schwab—and gives you broad access to all kinds of cryptocurrencies.
Hope that helps and best of luck with your investments.
